Australia, 1907 Melbourne Half Sovereign -
Like most Edward VII half sovereigns, this 1907M half sovereign is a difficult coin to obtain in this grade. The line near the “T” of “BRITT” is a die crack, and typical of the issue. Numismatist Howard Hodgson has done extensive research into the nature of these die cracks, which you can read about in the March 2022 issue of the Coin and Banknote Magazine. Second-finest graded by PCGS (5/22).
