Canadian sovereigns are notorious for their low mintage figures. The 1917-C sovereign is no exception, with a low mintage of just 58,845 pieces. You read that correctly: Just a sliver under 60,000 individual pieces were made. That’s less than most Australian mint sets, rarer than a lot of Australian proof sets, and certainly rarer, mintage-wise, than any Australian sovereign produced (with the exception of the 1931-M sovereign, of which just 57,809 were minted). This could be one to keep for the long-run.
