Australia, 1893 Sydney Veiled Head Half Sovereign -

While all Veiled head full sovereigns are generally available in Mint State (even the scarce 1893-M), it’s not every day that I get a Mint State Veiled head half sovereign in stock. In fact, this is the first Mint State Veiled head half sovereign I’ve had in stock since May 2012, and one of the few PCGS-graded Mint State Veiled head half sovereigns on the market right now. The coin on offer today is the 1893-S Veiled head, and although the date itself is not rare, it is extremely difficult to come by in Mint State. But don’t take my word for it: Just look at the PCGS Population Report. This is only the second Mint State 1893-S Veiled head half sovereign PCGS has graded in the last twenty-five years, and in this grade, is the second-finest graded by PCGS (August 2013). The coin itself is attractive, with great eye appeal, smooth fields, and full cartwheel lustre. Both sides of the coin are sharply struck, with full detail in the Queen’s hairlines and in the muscles of St George and the horse. With a low mintage and low population count on the PCGS Population Report, this coin is something to put aside for the long-term, in my view. Please call me on +61 421 229 821 to discuss.

Grades PCGS MS62.
