McD 170. This is one of the nicest St George Young Heads sovereigns I’ve seen in the last few years, and one of the few graded MS64 by PCGS. Based on the PCGS Population Report from May 2013, a St George reverse sovereign of any date graded PCGS MS64 is in the top 2% of all Australian St George reverse sovereigns graded by PCGS. It is equalled by only 15 other pieces out of 756 graded across the series, and is bettered by none. As an 1886-S, it is the single-finest graded by PCGS, with zero specimens in MS63 and four in MS62. It is rare by any measure. (I can count on one hand the number of MS64 St George Young Heads I have had in stock in the last five years.)
