1886 Melbourne Shield Reverse Sovereign

The 1886M shield sovereign is the key coin to the sovereign series, second only to the 1920S sovereign. Scarce in all grades, the present example is certified AU58 by PCGS and ranks amongst the finest dozen or so known; indeed, it’s the third finest we’ve handled in over twenty years. Residual lustre remains in the devices and legends, and the hairline is fully struck with no wear visible to the naked eye. The reverse presents as uncirculated.
