As the most popular denomination in the Commonwealth coin series, the florin has always been keenly sought-after. The proof 1938 florin is no exception, and is the most coveted denomination of all the 1938 proof coins. The official mintage was 100 pieces, but only 80 coins were issued. In August 2023, a complete 1938 proof set sold in an overseas auction for USD$26,400 (AU$40,600); that is about $6,800 per coin. The present coin, in superior condition and with pleasing eye appeal, is good value at our price.
