Australia, 1938 Proof Threepence -
A desirable early pre-war proof coin that was issued to collectors as an example of George VI’s new coinage designs. One hundred coins were struck of each denomination (crown to halfpenny), but only the threepence sold out. The coin photographed here is only the second example I’ve handled in the last few years, and one of the nicer coins to boot. Scarce.
