Australia, Two Dollar struck on Euro ten cent planchet -
A popular error coin that is known by about half a dozen examples. Struck on non-allergenic and antimicrobial Nordic Gold, and weighting 4.1g, the composition of the coin is identical to a Euro ten cent piece. How a blank Euro ten cent planchet ended up in Canberra is unknown, but as a number of these pieces have been discovered in recent years, it does appear to be a genuine accident. However this error coin was born, they have been keenly sought by two dollar coin and error collectors since their discovery in 2012. This example, graded AU55 by PCGS, is the first we've handled.
