1901 Melbourne Sovereign - NGC MS63

The 1901-M sovereign is not an easy coin to get in above-average condition. I’ve looked for years for an example in MS63 graded by PCGS, and (from memory) have only been able to track one example down. The coin photographed above, graded MS63 by NGC, is one of the nicer 1901-M sovereigns I’ve seen in recent times, and is the equal-finest graded by NGC to boot. (Neither PCGS nor NGC have graded an example of this date in MS64, as of November 2013.) Scarce this nice and underrated in the catalogue. Catalogues $1,250 in UNC in McDonald (2013).
