Australia, 1857 Sydney Mint Half Sovereign -

A rare coin in this state of preservation, and one of the finest Sydney Mint half sovereigns I’ve handled over the years. Fully lustrous, with great eye appeal, there is a light hairline on the obverse field that is mentioned for accuracy only (and probably the reason the coin graded MS62 with PCGS rather than MS63). Allegedly sold through Monetarium, Sydney in 1989, and from the India Hoard disbursed by Spink in 1976.
